At 28, Zach was dying of liver disease and was told he had about 90 days without a transplant. What kept him going were his rescue dogs, Tug, Marley and Buddy, who were there waiting on him every day. He got better, and in 2009 he started Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue in Tehachapi, California.
He also created Pawsitive Change, where people in prison train rescue dogs. The dogs get a better shot at finding a home, and the people training them build skills they take with them when they get out.
Zach has spent most of his life showing how much dogs can carry us. He advises Jasper on community and partnerships.
